LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Verizon customers throughout Southern California on Friday morning reported an outage that affected their cellular and internet service, prompting the company to scramble to troubleshoot the matter.

"We are aware of an issue impacting some mobile and wireless home internet customers in the Southern California area," Verizon said in a statement provided to ABC7. "Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to solve the issue. Please visit our Check Network Status page for updates on service in your area. We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your patience."

No estimate was given indicating when service would be fully restored.

Customers said they were impacted in the San Fernando Valley and Santa Monic
