FRANKFORT, Ky. —

A new mobile app encourages you to take a step into Kentucky's great outdoors.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the Kentucky Department of Parks' app called OuterSpatial.

It's designed to enhance the outdoor experience with up-to-date information about closings, event schedules, and detailed park maps.

"With this new app, exploring our 44 parks is going to be easier and safer," Beshear said. "For the first time, visitors will have access to detailed, updated offline trail maps, outdoor activities, and hiking opportunities right at their fingertips."

To celebrate the launch, the Parks Department introduced the Kentucky Passport Challenge.

It invites people to explore all 44 state parks in the commonwealth and earn check-in badges for each one.
