Teardown experts over at iFixit have revealed that Google’s Pixel Watch 4 is the most repair-friendly smartwatch in the world with its modular design, user-accessible screws, and iFixit-supplied parts.
For Pixel Watch owners over previous generations, a cracked display or failing battery often meant buying a new device. Google’s policy prioritized full replacements, and there was no way to open or service the internals without voiding warranties or damaging the hardware.
With the Pixel Watch 4, Google has evidently rethought that approach. The watch’s backplate is held in place with standard Torx screws, specifically T2 screws, rather than hidden adhesive, making access to internal components far simpler. In one demonstration, removing the battery and display took less than 13 minutes.
