To mark its two-year anniversary, Yellow Bird Books in downtown Aurora will host a celebration from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, offering a variety of free activities.

During the event at the independent bookstore, balloon animals and face painting are planned from noon to 2 p.m., with live music featuring local musician John Klatt at 2 p.m., according to a press release about the event.

Author McKenzie Burns will be at the store for a book signing from 3 to 5 p.m. Poets Donna Vorreyer and Kristin LaTour will be on hand from 5 to 7 p.m. and will discuss Vorreyer’s new book of poetry “Unrivered” at 6 p.m., according to the release.

The event will also include a bookmark make and take station, a birthday basket drawing with purchase, giveaways and sales, the release said.
