It is hardly news to say that during the last year or so, the tourism industry in the US has experienced a steep drop-off. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) , a whopping $2.36 trillion was added to the American economy from tourism in 2023. Flash forward to today, and Tourism Economics has predicted a 9.4% decline in international tourism from 2024 to 2025, a complete transformation from its initial prediction of an increase of 9%.

This, of course, is largely due to political tensions stemming from the current U.S. administration, so much so that many big-spending tourists are skipping the USA for Canada instead — and even many Canadians have been boycotting America following President Trump's "51st state" remarks.
