Toyota is recalling thousands of hybrid vehicles due to improperly welded seats in the second row, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This could cause the seat to not restrain a passenger properly during a crash, which may lead to injury.

There are 54,631 vehicles included in this recall, which all have the seat defect, according to the NHTSA.

"Due to a changed setting of a welding machine during assembly, there is a possibility that certain seat rails contain welds that are not fully penetrated," the NHTSA stated in the recall notice.
