CLEVELAND, Ohio — While most prices have climbed since spring, a few everyday goods have quietly gotten cheaper.
Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer revisited 100 common household items sold by Walmart, Amazon, Lowe’s and Giant Eagle to compare October prices with those collected in April as part of the ongoing Price Patrol series.
Overall costs rose 9.85% on average across all four retailers. Amazon showed the steepest overall increase at 20.5%, followed by Lowe’s at 9.15%, Walmart at 8.86%, and Giant Eagle at 1%.
Still, a handful of items went against the trend, dropping in price between April and October — including several clothing, makeup and household products.
