Marlene Whitman was hired as the first executive director in the 160-year history of Temple Israel Akron in Bath Township, the executive direct task force and board of trustees of the temple recently announced.
“After a thorough and deliberate selection process, we found Marlene to possess a rare and powerful blend of a business mindset, strategic insight, professional achievement, a familiarity with a broad spectrum of synagogue leadership, and a deep-rooted commitment to Jewish life,” Linda Barr, outgoing temple president, said in a news release. “We are confident that her unique visionary leadership aligns perfectly with the future direction and needs of Temple Israel.”
