Rome, N.Y. - State Police announced Friday that a Rome man’s death five months ago is a homicide.

On May 10, at approximately 4:30 a.m., troopers responded to a possible assault at a home on Elmer Hill Road in the outer district of Rome, according to a news release from Trooper Jennifer Jiron.

Troopers found a 56-year-old man, who later died at Wynn Hospital, shortly after the incident.

The man was identified as Mark A. Capparelli.

Troopers said Friday that he had been shot.

Capparelli worked over the years as the owner of MC Home Improvements, at the First Presbyterian Church and most recently as manager of the Frontier Inn in Rome, according to his obituary .
