Channing Tatum has stepped into his best performance to date as Jeffrey Manchester in Derek Cianfrance's _Roofman_ (now in theatres). Based on a real story, Tatum plays an army veteran who robbed 45 McDonald's shops, was arrested and then hid in a Toys “R” Us store in North Carolina after he escaped from prison.
Within that outrageous story, Jeffrey starts a romance with Leigh Wainscott, played by Kirsten Dunst, an employee at Toys “R” Us, and a single mom of two daughters. While Leigh initially has no idea about Jeffrey's true identity as an escaped felon, the truth eventually comes out.
Throughout _Roofman_, written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, the film takes a particularly empathetic approach to telling Manchester's story, with Cianfrance indicating that the perspective came from talk
