KINGSTON, N.Y. — Federal and state Democratic political leaders, some representing parts of Ulster County, lambasted the Trump administration’s indictment of state Attorney General Letitia James.
State Sen. Michelle Hinchey, D-Saugerties, who represents the 41st Senate District, described the indictment as a scary message to all Americans.
“Trump has demanded that the Department of Justice target his political opponents, and it is happening now to our New York Attorney General Letitia James,” Hinchey said in a statement Friday. “The presidency is not a weapon for personal vendettas, and it should terrify every American that a sitting president is twisting the DOJ into his own legal arm.”
