TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) — Toxic blue-green algae conditions are improving in Kansas lakes as the recreational season winds down.

On Friday, several lakes were lifted from the previous watch list, according to state health and wildlife officials.

But many lakes still have high levels of harmful algae. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks provided updates on the following lakes:

Warning • Atchison County Lake, Atchison County (elevated Oct. 10) • Colwich City Lake, Sedgwick County • Fossil Lake, Russell County • Frazier Lake, Grant County • Gathering Pond, Geary County • King Lake, Lyon County • Lake Afton, Sedgwick County
