(FOX40.com) -- A former reform school turned haunted attraction will welcome hundreds of visitors throughout October. “The Haunt” returns to Preston Castle in Ione on Friday night.
"We change the route every year. It's hard to do, but it's 30,000 square feet of, hopefully, scares and screams," Volunteer Coordinator Melissa Zelico said.
The Castle was built for the Preston School of Industry and housed boys from 1890 to 1894. The school permanently shut its doors in 1960 and in the following decades fell into disrepair.
Throughout the year, public, private and paranormal tours are held to support the castle and every October the largest fundraiser, “The Haunt”, is organized. This year “The Haunt” is taking place on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25. Each tour takes guests through three f
