David Henrie and Selena Gomez have been close friends for years after rising to fame together on Wizards of Waverly Place , but unfortunately he wasn’t able to attend her recent wedding to Benny Blanco .

In a new interview, David explained why he missed the event and revealed the advice he gave her about the big day.

“Unfortunately, no,” David said on the Zach Sang Show after being asked if he was there.

He continued, “I’m about to announce a project that I was out of state on, and there was no way I can get back. I literally tried every single way to try to get back. Breaks my heart.”

David said he advised Selena to take one minute at the wedding to soak in the day.
