Tension brewed in the Milwaukee Brewers after their loss against the Chicago Cubs in Game 4, and it wasn’t just about the scoreboard. Catcher William Contreras and pitcher Freddy Peralta didn’t exactly see eye to eye on the pitch that changed everything – a center-cut fastball Ian Happ crushed in the first inning.

Peralta, who tied a franchise record with nine strikeouts in Game 1, had the ball again on Thursday with a chance to close out the NLDS. Instead, the Cubs forced a Game 5 with a 6-0 win, sparked by Happ’s three-run blast to deep right. After the game, Peralta stood by his decision, telling MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy:

“For me, it wasn’t a mistake. It was the pitch we wanted but he was just able to hit it really hard.”

Contreras, however, wasn’t fully on board with that take.
