Last year’s winners of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences, given in memory of Alfred Nobel, were Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson. The researchers were honored for their study of how weak institutions affect a nation’s prosperity.
