Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has refused to rule out a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season, but insists he remains ‘happy’ for the time being.

Fernandes, 31, is enjoying his sixth full season with United this term, but there were times when his future at Old Trafford appeared in serious doubt during the summer transfer window.

Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal were heavily linked and reportedly offered Fernandes eye-watering wages of £700,000-a-week in an attempt to prise the midfielder away from the Theatre of Dreams.

Al-Ittihad and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr were also credited with a strong interest and Ruben Amorim was even said to be preparing for life without Fernandes – arguably United’s most important player in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
