Small-school power Westinghouse has forfeited its Sept. 19 victory over Butler for using an ineligible player.

Westinghouse athletic director Anthony Hall confirmed the forfeit to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporter Chris Harlan.

Harlan was first to report the news Friday, hours before the Bulldogs are set to play fellow District 8 program University Prep. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

According to Harlan’s report, Hall said Westinghouse’s 40-14 victory over Butler was the only contest affected. They ineligible player used was not named.

Butler, a member of the WPIAL but playing an independent schedule this season, improved to 6-1.

Westinghouse, which entered the week ranked No. 9 in Class 1A, remains locked in to the City League playoffs at 5-2 overall.
