Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Friday that a military facility would be coming to the Mountain Home Air Force Base as part of an agreement with Qatar.

Hegseth and Qatari Minister of Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani signed a letter of acceptance at the Pentagon that will bring a Qatari Emiri Air Force facility to Idaho and allow Qatari pilots to train alongside U.S. Air Force personnel.

Hegseth said the air base would “host a contingent of F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, interoperability” while Al Thani described the letter as embodying a “shared belief that peace is best preserved through strength and partnership.”
