CHARLOTTE — A Kalamo Township woman has been convicted of embezzling money from a senior who employed her to help with daily activiites, authorities said.
A jury in Eaton County Circuit Court found Heather Renee Bodell, 48, guilty of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult, between $50,000 and $100,000, a maximum 15-year felony, Eaton County Prosecutor Douglas Lloyd said in an Oct. 10 news release.
The verdict was returned on Friday, Oct. 10, following a five-day trial, Lloyd said. Bodell was accused of embezzling more than $70,000, he said.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Office investigated the case.
An attorney for Bodell did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Bodell was scheduled to be sentenced in December by Eaton County Circuit Judge Janice Cunningham.
