The setting for the horrors perpetrated by killer Ed Gein was a dilapidated farmhouse on an isolated plot of land in rural Wisconsin.

Authorities made a grisly discovery there in the small town of Plainfield in 1957, when the body of a local missing woman was found along with human remains and objects like lampshades and masks made out of human skin.

Charlie Hunnam plays the murderer in the hit Netflix series "Monster: The Ed Gein Story," which dramatizes the horrific events of his crimes and their reverberation through pop culture. Elements of Gein's story have inspired horror classics like " Psycho" and " The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ."
