OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 42-year-old Ronald Exantus after they say he failed to register as a convicted felon in Florida within a 48-hour window. The case has received national attention following his release from prison in Kentucky under questionable circumstances.

Deputies say Exantus was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Kentucky after he stabbed 6-year-old Logan Tipton to death. He served less than half of his sentence and was released and put on parole.

The law requires a convicted felon to register, whether the felony was in-state or out of state, within 48 hours of relocation.

According to deputies, Exantus failed to do so and was arrested at 14790 South West 43rd Terrace in Marion Oaks.
