Brent Bogle didn’t expect to win much when he spontaneously bought a scratch-and-win ticket at a grocery store in Lac La Biche.
The Edmonton native was in the area for work, and decided to buy a Platinum Scratch and Win ticket during a trip to the Your Independent Grocer near 105 Street and 101 Avenue in Lac La Biche.
It wasn’t until he sat down at his office and checked his ticket that he realized he’d won $3 million.

“I swore a little bit,” he said in a Friday news release. “It was disbelief at first.”
“My grandma used to get scratch and win tickets all the time, and this win is reminding me of her.”
