Trick or treaters may see less chocolate bars given out this Halloween due to increasing cocoa prices.
The Wells Fargo Agri-Food Institute reported that the price of cocoa is up nearly double what it was in early 2024, according to Axios.
Despite increased prices, the National Confectioners Association’s survey of 1,000 people found that 94% of consumers still plan to share candy for Halloween, fueling the $54 billion industry.
Candy will still be a staple of the holiday this year but will likely feature less chocolate. A survey of 2,000 people conducted by Empower found that 57% of Americans said the rising price of chocolate is changing how much they spend on Halloween candy.
