TRAVER, Calif. (KFSN) -- An onramp and overpass on Highway 99 are closed due to a fatal traffic collision in Traver.

The California Highway Patrol was called just before 2 p.m. to the southbound Merritt Drive onramp after a vehicle was hit and went up an embankment.

The car caught on fire and black smoke was seen in the area.

Officers confirm one person died at the scene.

All southbound lanes of Highway 99 are open, except for the Merritt Drive onramp and overpass.
