AMANA COLONIES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Amana Fire Department said it’s out of space for vehicles and equipment.
That’s why it’s asking the community for donations to help pay for an addition to the fire station.
The volunteer fire department said an addition would cost $800,000, but the money it gets from property taxes can’t pay for it.

Firefighters said the tight space slows them down, which could cause problems when they’re in a hurry and need to leave for an emergency.
“When you get full gear on, it’s hard to walk around and get through vehicles,” Rose said.
The firefighters said they know $800,000 is a lot to ask, but it needs the money.
