Ellen Greenberg’s death was ruled a suicide in 2011, but her family has always believed she met with foul play.

In January 2011, Ellen’s fiancé, Samuel Goldberg, called 911, claiming that he’d found her lifeless body in their apartment when he returned from the gym. During the 911 call, Samuel theorized that Ellen had either “stabbed herself” or “fell on a knife.”

Despite having 20 stab wounds, including ones to the back of her head and neck, law enforcement immediately treated Ellen’s death as a suicide. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide at first, but changed the cause of death to suicide shortly thereafter.
