BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — A special Local History Center opened Friday inside the Bellaire Public Library.
The room, on the library's balcony, was dedicated with speeches, tours, and a ribbon cutting.
It contains local newspapers, photos, yearbooks, family histories, pottery, maps, and more.
It even has furniture and contents from the Victorian mansion built by wealthy coal baron Jacob Heatherington, known as The House That Jack Built.
He started coal mining with just his mule, Jack, and himself. And he always credited Jack with helping him make his fortune. He was his trusted companion. And so The House That Jack Built was built with the money that he made, earned, with Jack his mule.”
I am absolutely so excited that there is a new archive here in Bellaire because our history, of
