COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– For the first time in South Carolina, Prisma Health Midlands is offering new treatment for patients with Parkinson’s.

It’s called Focused Ultrasound Therapy.

Neurosurgeons utilize high intensity sound waves with no surgical incisions to precisely target deep brain pathways that cause tremors.

Keith Penwarden, from Leesville, is among the first patients in the state to receive the treatment.
