NELSON COUNTY, Ky. —
A Nelson County Family is still recovering six months after a mudslide condemned their home.
Brad Metcalf, the director of Nelson County's Emergency Management, said parts of the hill along Spaulding Hollow Road sank several feet. That not only caused major damage to the road and surrounding water and power lines, but also to the Traxler family's home.
Lauren Traxler said she was trying to sleep that April night when she felt her house shifting.
"I heard just big cracks and weird noises, and I just knew something wasn't right," Traxler said. "I went in to wake up our smallest, and his whole ceiling was starting to crack."
Traxler said the family moved out immediately and the house has since been condemned.
