SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - In May, the Missouri Conservation Commission approved an increase for hunting and fishing permits in the state for residents and non-residents.
According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, the 2024 Fiscal Year brought in just more than $43.5 million in permit sales.
Conservation is funded through a one-eight sales tax, permit sales, federal aid, sales and rentals of department property and resources, and any additional funding from the Missouri General Assembly. The sales tax brings in approximately $170 million in funding each year that goes directly to conservation.
