GREENVILLE, S.C. —
A historic Greenville bar will be able to keep its doors open until 2 a.m. after waiting months for a permit approval from the city.
Gaslight Bar and Grill, which labels itself the city's "unofficial" oldest bar, opened in 1953. Since then, it has served the Upstate community on Keith Drive as a prominent fixture for establishments located away from the main strip of downtown.
On Thursday, the Board of Zoning Appeals cast a unanimous vote to approve Gaslight's special exception permit, which allows it to stay open late. The city originally recommended disapproval for the permit, which concerned Owner Nathan Bennett and employees.
