East Pennsboro Township has a new solar field.
The new 2.47-megawatt ground-mounted solar array is located at the township’s former decommissioned landfill and public works site at 750 S. Humer St.
Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project last month.
“This major infrastructure project marks a significant milestone in the township’s commitment to sustainability and long-term financial stewardship,” the township said in a news release. “The solar initiative, developed in partnership with Solar Renewable Energy, is designed to offset 100% of the township’s annual energy usage across 48 PPL electric accounts. The system is tied directly into the existing PPL electrical infrastructure at the landfill, ensuring seamless integration.”
