Frank Smith quotes still resonate with Jerry Dobrovolny more than 40 years after the fact.
Dobrovolny is the commissioner and chief administrative officer for Metro Vancouver. He’s a former chief engineer and general manager of engineering services for the City of Vancouver and former New Westminster city councillor.
He was also an offensive tackle for University of B.C. teams coached by Smith from 1979 to ’82, highlighted by helping the T-Birds capture the Vanier Cup national championship in his final season as part of a 12-0 campaign for UBC against Canadian opponents.
