A day after being inducted into the Joplin Area Sports Hall of Fame, Missouri Southern's 1999-2000 men's basketball team was recognized Friday at the Ron Richard Athletic Center.

That team reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division II national tournament before falling by 1 point to Metro State-Denver in the semifinals. The Lions defeated top-ranked Florida Southern in the Elite Eight. ×
