EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - It’s one week away from the three-year anniversary of the Morton Avenue warehouse fire in Evansville, and the lot continues to sit, full of rubble.
The massive warehouse fire burned almost an entire city block and smoldered for days. Much of the debris still lies scattered across the property including piles of twisted metal and the skeletons of burned out buildings.
“When you go down the highway up here, you know, you see all that,” area resident Chris Meyer said. “It’s an eyesore. You know, it’s not good for the city.”
Meyer lives directly across the street from the site. He says the property attracts rodents, homeless people and creates other issues.
