Detroit Tigers ace pitcher Tarik Skubal has made a point that he wants to stay connected to his alma mater .

Whenever the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner heads back to the Seattle area, he tries to get out to the nearby Seattle University campus to meet with current players or work out with them.

The two times he’s been in Seattle this season, Skubal also got tickets for the current Seattle U players and coaches to attend the game he starts against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

That included Game 2 of the ALDS on Sunday, where Seattle U coach Donny Harrel — who has helmed the program since 2009 — and his players watched his former pitcher throw a quality outing, even in a Tigers loss.
