BELL COUNTY, Texas — A Bell County jury has acquitted a man of capital murder charges in a 2020 Harker Heights double homicide-- and now, his attorney is speaking out.

Jerry Baker, 41, spent five years in jail awaiting trial for the deaths of Gina David Kearney and her adult son, Michael David. Their bodies were found during a welfare check by Harker Heights police in October 2020.

Now, a Bell County jury has found Baker not guilty.

Defense attorney Brittany Lannen was brought into the case at the last minute. She became lead counsel just 10 days before the trial began.
