PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Calvin Freeman 35, will remain in custody until he stands trial after a Peoria County Circuit Judge cited him as being a significant threat to the community and the woman he is accused of shooting.
Judge Mark Gilles made the ruling Friday, Oct. 10 in the detention hearing, which is like a mini-trial.
In all, Freeman is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated domestic battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm in two cases involving the same woman. The woman's family was present in courtroom with the support of multiple victim advocates.
