The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s “Operation Summer Heat” in Holyoke and Chicopee were a part of a nationwide effort to stop violent crime.

Between June 24 and Sept. 20, FBI field offices participated, according to a press release issued by the Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Police arrested 52 people and took illegal guns and drugs off the streets — including heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and crack.
