City and state officials gathered Friday for a ceremonial groundbreaking of a $32 million redevelopment aimed at reinvigorating Mount Clemens and easing the area’s housing crunch.
The Victory Inn Project will bring 120 market-rate apartments to the city’s downtown district on North River Road on the outskirts of Mount Clemens. It is being constructed on the grounds of the former Comfort Inn hotel, which was demolished in 2024.
“Mayor (Laura) Kropp is really excited about this development that believes will rejuvenate and reinvigorate the downtown,” Jim George, head of the George Development Group, said Friday morning prior to the event.
