OLYMPIA, Wash. — A dog was killed and a man was injured in a hit-and-run in Olympia Thursday night.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office is still looking for the suspect.

A driver in a gray Kia sedan struck the man, Andy Burt, and his dog, Kevin, as they were going through a crosswalk around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Yelm Highway Southeast and Donovan Drive Southeast.

Burt was wearing a light-up vest and carrying a flashlight, he said. Vehicles stopped for him when the crosswalk sign began flashing, but a car sped around them and hit Burt and his dog.

The collision broke Burt's foot. A bystander told him his dog was hit and she was rushing him to the veterinarian. His wife later told him his dog did not survive.
