FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WRAL) - Support has been pouring into a North Carolina community after three high school students were killed in a crash earlier this week.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Rosehill Road.
Police said the car the students were in crashed into a telephone pole, continued down a sidewalk and collided with a tree.
The three students attended E.E. Smith High School and were part of the football team. They were identified as Trevor Merrit, Nick Williams and Jai’Hyon Elliot.
“If you aren’t going to get emotional now, what are you saving your emotions for? It’s time to be emotional. This is a terrible thing,” Jimmy Harvey, E.E. Smith High School alumnus, said.
Janiya Bishop, a good friend of Elliot, is still strug
