ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Animal shelters in Albuquerque lent a hand to some dogs in western New Mexico. The City of Gallup canceled its contract with the McKinley County Humane Society late last month, citing "long-standing and unresolved operational problems" there.
Albuquerque Animal Welfare traveled to Gallup for emergency placement of 15 puppies and two dogs. Ten puppies have already found homes. The rest are up for adoption.
Animal Humane New Mexico said they also took in 21 dogs and puppies from Gallup, including some with parvovirus and needing medical care.
