WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Robert J. Dole VA hosted its seventh annual Homeless Stand Down event Friday at Wichita’s Hyde Park, providing essential services and resources to people experiencing homelessness, specifically, veterans.

The event offered veterans in need referrals for health care, housing solutions, employment opportunities, substance use treatment and other critical services designed to help them transition out of homelessness.

One woman who’s experienced homelessness credited the VA with helping her secure stable housing.

“They helped me to find a place, they helped supply my basic needs for a home, and then they were right there to help me find a home,” she said. “I am so glad that the VA has come a long ways from doing nothing for us to helping us with everything,” she s
