EAST PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) -- A social media post said it was with great sadness that East Peoria Community High School shares the passing of Mr. Martin Hobbs after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Hobbs taught science at the school for 30 years and was also the sponsor of the HOPE Club. The post credits Hobbs with "inspiring generation of students with his passion for learning."

"Beyond the classroom, Mr. Hobbs was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering support of students, staff and community. His dedication to our school and his love for teaching have left a lasting mark on all of us," it said.
