The Brantford Bulldogs were blessed with the OHL’s rookie of the year two seasons ago when Jake O’Brien captured the Emms Family Award.

With the way Caleb Malhotra is playing this season, there’s a chance they could have their second winner in three years.

Facing Sudbury on Friday night at the TD Civic Centre, Malhotra scored once and was all over the ice as the Bulldogs (5-0-1-1) defeated the Wolves (0-6-1-0) 6-0.

Coming to Brantford after a season in the BCHL, Malhotra didn’t and doesn’t have the rookie of the year award on his radar.

“It’s not something I’ve even thought about,” he said. “The goal here is for the team to do well and get to the Memorial Cup.”
