GRYASON, La. (KNOE) - A 13-year-old Columbia boy is dead following a Wednesday night crash in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana State Police announced Friday.

According to a news release, a 2005 GMC Envoy was stopped at the red light at the U.S. Highway 165 and Louisiana Highway 126 intersection when a 2016 Freightliner crashed into the back of the GMC.

The boy was sitting in the passenger side backseat at the time of the crash. Troopers say the boy, who died Thursday morning, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver and the other passenger in the GMC, along with the driver of the Freightliner were not injured and were buckled up.

Troopers say although impairment is not suspected, toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.
