A huge explosion ripped through an explosives factory in Tennessee on Friday morning, leaving 19 people dead or missing. The blast, described as a “mass detonation,” was so powerful that homes miles away shook and debris was scattered over half a square mile.

The explosion occurred at Accurate Energetic Systems, a company that makes military and demolition explosives. The site, located about an hour southwest of Nashville , now lies in ruins, with burned vehicles and twisted metal spread across the area.
