Neil Young is removing his catalog from Amazon Music after criticizing CEO Jeff Bezos' support for the Trump Administration.

The "Heart of Gold" singer announced the decision on his Neil Young Archives website, calling out Amazon, its subsidiary Whole Foods and the Mark Zuckerberg-owned Meta.

"Forget Amazon and Whole Foods. Forget Facebook. Buy local. Buy direct. Bezos supports this government," the website reads, featuring logos of each business.

The 79-year-old folk rock singer called on the public to boycott the tech giant, adding that soon his music will not be available on its streaming platform.

"It is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America," the website states. "We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering. They need you to buy from them. Don’t."

Young's website also criticized the ongoing government shutdown, which entered its 10th day on Friday, Oct. 10. It is slated to drag into next week, and Young seemingly blames Trump, whom the singer has long expressed disdain for.

The White House has blamed Democratic lawmakers for what it calls the "Democrat shutdown," with Trump accusing the party of using healthcare costs "as a cudgel." Democrats in Congress have demanded extending health care subsidies in any funding bill to reopen the government, while Republicans have refused to consider that until the shutdown ends.

Young added: "They shut down our government your income your safety your family’s health security. Take America Back together, stop buying from the big corporations support local business. Do the right thing. Show who you are."

USA TODAY has reached out to Amazon, Whole Foods, Meta and the White House for comment.

While the president has previously assailed Bezos, the two now appear to be on good terms, with The Washington Post owner congratulating Trump on his election victory and then dining with him at Mar-a-Lago. Earlier this year, Trump credited Bezos after Amazon opted out of a plan to display price changes in response to Trump's tariffs.

On Sept. 4, Trump invited several tech leaders to a White House dinner, including Zuckerberg, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Apple CEO Tim Cook and OpenAI founder Sam Altman.

Young has proven he's comfortable removing his discography from a streaming giant in the past.

In early 2022, he took back his music catalog from Spotify after condemning its official "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast for "spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them."

Two years later, he decided to bring his music back because he said Apple and Amazon "started serving the same disinformation podcast."

"I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify," he said.
